Marli Wren is a composer, music editor, arranger and multi-instrumentalist across film, TV and gaming, and is also part of BAFTA Connect 2024-25.
Recent projects include music editor on Steven Knight’s House of Guinness and Lena Dunham’s Too Much, both for Netflix, Guy Ritchie’s MobLand for Paramount+ and composer for Misfits’ latest doc Black is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story which won Best British Discovery at the BFI London Film Festival, as well as both seasons of Channel 4’s hit comedy drama The Curse.
For six years, Marli worked closely with Ilan Eshkeri and Steve McLaughlin, contributing to arrangements, playing multiple instruments and mixing on a range of titles, including PS4’s Ghost of Tsushima (the music was nominated for a BAFTA Games Award), Sky Atlantic’s Riviera, EA’s Sims 4, David Attenborough’s Perfect Planet and Ralph Fiennes’ The White Crow. He has collaborated with numerous other influential composers including Atli Örvarsson, Nick Laird-Clowes, Gordy Haab, Matthew Herbert, Ash’s Tim Wheeler and Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno.
Marl is an accomplished pianist and bass guitarist, who regularly performs with and produces a variety of talented musicians. He toured across Europe with MOBO nominee Julia Biel, highlighted by supporting Bob Dylan and has also joined up with jazz guitarist Sacha Spence to form a new Jazz/Hip hop-influenced instrumental duo called Quills.
